Prongs hold stones into place, either above the band, or as part of the band. The prong setting was made famous by the Tiffany & Co Jewellery designer of New York around 150 years ago. Not only does a prong set allow for maximum light to pass though the stone, but it also makes exchanging stones very simple.
Style = Traditional
This is where the stone is set between two bands of gold. Allows for light to pass through the stones, as the bands don't usually obstruct the path. Popular with men’s rings, as they are easy wearing.
Style = Conservative
Bezel Set - Gold surrounds the stone, highlighting the shape of the cut. Very comfortable setting, but can limit the brilliance of stones.
Style = Vintage
Micro Set - Stones are set in the gold mould. Usually used as staging stones.
Style = Sophisticated
